A “No” and the BIGGEST “YES!” (Nick Anderson Called Me!!!!)

I woke up yesterday morning and the first thing I read was, “That would not be possible.” It wasn’t the response I had hoped for when I sent out the the request, but I emailed them back, thanking them for responding nonetheless. Head up, I then sent out the following update to Twitter and Facebook: … Read more

Pretty Good! (The Enemy of Great!)

Greatness!

I jumped out of bed this past Friday morning, grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed to the gym to get some makes in.  I went to work on my game.  I went to break records.  I entered the gym upbeat and full of energy, but left frustrated and a little down. Actually, I … Read more

P90X (Doing MY Best and Forgetting The Rest)

I don’t like lifting heavy things.  Never have. I suppose if you’ve ever seen me in person on in any picture that is pretty evident. 🙂 What I do like is GETTING BETTER! At the time of my injury, I was in the best shape of my life.  I could run for days, I was trim … Read more

My Next 1-on-1 Opponent – Garfield Blair (Jamaican National Team Starting SG & Former Stetson Hatters Star!)

“How many do you think I’ll score?”, was the text message I sent to my next 1-on-1 opponent. “Maybe about 5 or 6,” was Garfield Blair’s response. What started as a slight smile across my face grew into a full out laugh as I read his message.  I wasn’t laughing at what Blair, the 6 … Read more

The X Factor

Later this evening I will jump in the car and accompany my wife to Miami, Florida, where she will audition for “The X Factor”, the new Simon Cowell television creation that is set to debut this fall. My wife sings, for fun. The first time I heard her sing, I had just finished throwing down … Read more

I’M BACK!!!! (Me vs. Virginia Tech signee Robert Brown – Round 2)

You Can’t Always Be Prepared

I’m watching my 23 month old niece all day this Friday by myself and honestly, I’m a bit nervous. I love spending time with Ava, but other than a couple of hours when she was much younger, I haven’t been left alone with her. Even that time, I checked and made sure my neighbor (she … Read more

What’s Your End Goal?

What keeps you moving forward?  What keeps you going? I’ve got bruises all over my leg from having instruments pressed into and across my skin.  After a couple of days, just as the contusions begin to heal, the tools are reapplied and at times the pain is excruciating.  Having something that causes a bruise done … Read more

Dear MJ (A Letter to Michael Jordan)

Dear MJ:

When you came into the league (NBA) in 1984 I was seven years old. My big focus was getting to know my new classmates and learning how to read small books with a few words in a big font on each page. You went on to win Rookie of the Year with a stat line of 28.2ppg, 6.5rpg, 5.9apg, and 2.4spg. I had a knack for being able to spell and led my class in gold stars.

Me vs. Scott Spencer (Former SG at Concordia University) *Video Post

One of the great things about this journey of mine has been the help I’ve received from others.  As I’m preparing for my match-up with the great Michael Jordan, my brother and some friends from high school have begun playing again too.  It’s been a huge help in getting back in basketball shape. A month … Read more

Jordan Camp Canceled? (A true Roadblock STUNNER that I WILL CRUSH)

While my natural feeling may be to hang my head, put my hands over my face and sulk, my FAITH tells me that there is a plan for my life. A plan that includes this journey.

While it may seem foolish to some, having my dream, something I’ve been anticipating for such a long time, potentially swiped away just days before it is a reality, is extremely painful to me.
