What’s Your End Goal?

My End Goal is to Play Michael Jordan 1-on-1 in basketball!

What keeps you moving forward?  What keeps you going?

I’ve got bruises all over my leg from having instruments pressed into and across my skin.  After a couple of days, just as the contusions begin to heal, the tools are reapplied and at times the pain is excruciating.  Having something that causes a bruise done on top of an existing bruise is not fun.

With what resembles a larger rubber band around my ankles I get in my basketball defensive stance and slowly shuffle the length of the training room and back.  The resistance of the band lights up my arse like the entire place is on fire.

Just as I get back to where I began, what I think is the finish line, I’m instructed to do it again.

The natural part of me wants to stop.  I’m no different than anyone else.  I don’t like pain.

Yet I’m reminded that this was Michael Jordan’s LIFE when he played.  It’s why he was great!

I stay crouched and push through.

My End Goal:  Play Michael Jordan 1-on-1 in basketball.

What’s Your End Goal?

What do you think about when times get rough and it isn’t easy?  What motivates you through the pain so that you may one day reach your end goal?

Do you have an end goal or are you just sputtering through life aimlessly?

{Note:  I’m trying to get this Letter to Michael Jordan.  Please share with everyone!  Thanks!}

*Btw, is the above not the sickest image of MJ ever!?!? So on point! Ziare Smith rocked it!

  1. Great post Kenny! Having an end goal in mind is the only way to get through these rough patches and keep moving forward.

Every time I find myself exhausted from working, I just remind myself how awesome it will feel when I’m debt free, and that will make the long hours worth it.

And yes, that image is awesome.

  2. Kenny,
I liked that one a lot.

I was about to craft a post about my goal too, so it’s a funny coincidence. I like your quest because it’s crystal clear… You want to play his Airness Michael Jordan.
I find it really inspiring. Maybe it’s because of the dichotomy: the usual 1 on 1 game and Michael Jordan, a very unusual B ball player.

    • Thanks 🙂 Yeah, the bruises and pain aren’t fun. If I didn’t have the end goal of playing Michael Jordan, I really don’t think I could handle it. The end goal gives me daily perspective, which is key every time I feel one of those bruises.
