When words leap over your teeth, past your lips and spring to life in this world they hold such amazing power.

The ability to speak and communicate through the written word is breathtaking if you just sit still for a moment and really think about it.

Every single time you open your mouth or press your fingers to a set of keys, there is a massive amount of unadulterated promise to be found.

Never could more power be placed with one than is given when you’re able to communicate with another person.

A liar once said, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”

The truth is words can hurt you very badly.

On the flip side, they can also help someone like myself further believe that I will play Michael Jordan 1-on-1 or catapult someone else to smile or feel love.

Like all things, it depends upon how the power is used.

Unfortunately, too often almighty words are fired away without thought like a drive by shooting, killing innocent hopes and dreams along the way.

So what does this have to do with me playing Michael Jordan??

Everything.

I get asked on occasion how do I possibly stay motivated on my journey to play MJ?  I’m a regular guy from the standpoint that I have a full time job and plenty of responsibilities just like the majority.  Juggling it all can be tough at times, so I do understand why I get asked how I keep willing myself to the courts and stay in pursuit of my goal with such passion.

Truthfully, I love this journey.

Beyond my faith, I guess if there was any secret it would be the amount of positive words that flow into my life on a daily basis.

Words with Friends

I wouldn’t say that I’m the most popular guy when it comes to friends, but the friends I do have are beyond spectacular!

I routinely get texts in the morning telling me to have a blessed/great day.  Some take the time to tell me they enjoyed my latest post.  Others show more concern and enthusiasm with every step than I could ever imagine when I began this journey.  Some call me to speak positivity into my life.  Others send caring messages to me on Facebook.  Some give me love on Twitter.  Others leave comments on this site.

Take my man Will Peters as an example.  He’s a high schooler from another state, which I’ve never met in person and who only knows me through this site, yet he took the time to leave a powerful grouping of words the other day on the mevsMJ.com Facebook page that impacts me to this day.

Will didn’t have to send that message, but look at the power of his kindness.  Almost two weeks later I still think about it every day.  It has encouraged me to work harder and to be better.  It further strengthens the belief that one guy’s dream can positively affect many.

Every single person that supports me doesn’t have to take the time to do so, but I’m so glad that they do.

I wrote the other day:

“Taking the time to speak positivity into someone’s life is so powerful!  Never underestimate the extreme power of kindness!”

Words, my friends, are powerful.

In an atmosphere where most think nothing of verbalizing or becoming social media assassins at their disapproval of something, we often forget to put a voice with our approval.

The good news is we can change that.

Your Move

Take the time to speak positivity into the life of at least 7 people by this time next week.

Tell them you appreciate them.  Tell them you support them.  Tell them why you value their friendship.  If they look at you funny, tell them anyway.  The impact will be great and it will take but just a moment.
