If you keep slipping and sliding on the court, that should mean that your shoes are wearing. For me personally, i have 2 shoes; one for outdoors and one for indoors. I usually purchase new ones every month and a half depending on how much i play. traction, upper, fit, material, and obvious signs of wear and tear must be consciously looked at

Comment on When To Replace Your Basketball Shoes (A Mostly Non-Scientific Look Into The Sole Of The Hoops Game) by Beau Bryan https://www.mevsmj.com/when-to-replace-your-basketball-shoes-a-mostly-non-scientific-look-into-the-sole-of-the-hoops-game/#comment-32992 Sat, 06 Aug 2016 21:23:58 +0000 http://www.mevsMJ.com/?p=4150#comment-32992 I’m a heavyweight player, (300 lbs) and play or practice 10 to 14 hours per week. I have found that my shoes start to lose that lockdown feeling after about 6 weeks of use. I can still wear the shoes for fashion or just shooting around after that point, but I won’t do any running or serious play in them.
I like to shop sales at Finishline, Eastbay, and keep an eye on EBay as well as the local Ross Dress For Less/Burlington:/Marshalls etc.
My average shoe costs me around $60. Recently picked up Lebron Soldier 7 for under $50 as well as a pair of Kobe elite 9s for $80. Jordan Flight remix for $70, Chris Paul 8 for $40, Hyperchase for $40, John Wall Adidas for $35, and Air Raid retro for $35, for $350 I’m just about set up for the entire year. Some other good and affordable shoes are Fila 95 and 96 for usually $50. Adidas Crazy 8s for 50-70, Converse Aero Jam for 50-70, Adidas crazyquick and crazy light can be scored for as low as $40 and Nike Hyperchase and Hyperrev can also be scored for $40-60. Our feet are worth a lot to us. So please take care of them by wearing supportive and appropriate footwear. Sincerely, Beau Bryan

All the best Greg! Glad the story inspired you! Be careful out there! The four week training plan isn’t ideal by any means haha. But I believe in you! Have a great race and be sure to send in a pic when you finish it!

I love this story and will be trying to use your schedule for a local half marathon I am to do in 4 weeks. I completed it last year with only a 3 mile run under my belt. Stupid I know and always an excuse to not go out running to prepare. The Great North Run is a local run where about 50000 people take part and I’d always looked on in admiration and then last year got a place after 5 years of missing out on one (initially applied to do it for turning 40). On the excitement on my achievement of finishing it last year albeit more walking than running I decided I’d do it properly this year and train and here I am 4 weeks away with my first run done this morning of 3 miles. Lazy, stupid, unmotivated, idiot all words I used to describe myself as I slogged round this morning. Then I read your story tonight and now think you know what he’s right I can bust my ass for the next 4 weeks and prove you can RUN a half marathon if not put your mind to it. Thanks for the inspiration. Great North Run Newcastle UK look out I’m coming for you!!

Hi Susan! I live in Orlando but am in Charlotte through Sunday. I’m not affiliated with any set programs but would be open to it. Love helping people.

Looked up your site because I work in education in a Title I school and am always looking for new resources. So my questions….do you live in Florida or Charlotte? And do you work with mentorship programs for kids?
